After trying both the gravity and suction fed brushes that came with the kit I got, I started to prefer suction fed brushes. I have about 10 of the glass jars, which I originally kept half full with different colours, which sped up colour changes, but when these are left for a while, the paint works its way up the tube and leaks over the side! Makes a proper mess!
I now prefer gravity fed brushes!

IWATA REVOLUTION BCR
0.3mm setup. This was the first suction fed (SF) airbrush I bought after using the brushes with the original kit. I bought it used from eBay and I like it! It is a nice, weighty brush, and has a nice, fluid action. The only problem I have is that I've forgotten what needle setup it has?? (Think it's 0.3mm?) |
IWATA REVOLUTION SAR
0.5mm setup. This was another used eBay buy, and a bit of a bargain if I remember correctly? I was looking for an Iwata dual action brush when I saw this, and took a punt on it. I'm glad I did as I now use it for smaller applications of 2k lacquer (mainly) and it allows me to spray an even amount with each pass. The knurled 'nut' in the middle of the brush is turned CW or ACW to control the needle/paint volume. It works really well and I'd feel lost without it now. Has a 0.5mm needle/nozzle. |
ORIGINAL NO-BRAND PURCHASE
0.3mm setup. I haven't used this airbrush very often since buying other brushes, but I remember the spray from this was quite ragged/diffuse. The paint doesn't atomise very well and lots of overspray is created. Not good for detail, but okay to have as a reserve. |
