Another early paper doodle (I learned not to use masking tape on paper!) and another fascination with painting hair(?)!! This time though I wanted to try working on black paper.

PRESSURE - 30 - 50 psi
Another early paper doodle (I learned not to use masking tape on paper!) and another fascination with painting hair(?)!! This time though I wanted to try working on black paper.
I used a white pencil crayon to sketch the outline freehand then started laying down the white paint, concentrating on the lighter areas.
More white added. I do wonder at this stage whether it would have been better to use white paper???
The black begins to add definition to the features and shape to the face.
After adding the black I then used the white to remove the harshness of the darker lines. (Maybe I should have started with a grey mix?)
I'm happy with the mane, but the shorter hair of the face itself is lacking any sort of texture, and it's this that I would like to learn how to do. I have no idea where I would start and how I would go about it though? With the highlights and shadows the picture has taken shape, and the eyes come alive with the wet-look highlights. The whiskers aren't clearly defined and took at least 2 passes to overlay the black.
